Suddenly, a tiny fairy flies from the box and uses a wand to zonk you with some sort of spell! The box vanishes, leaving you drained of -5 MP. Suddenly, it explodes, leaving you damaged for -15 HP! Suddenly, a studded steel gauntlet on a spring bursts forth from the box, cracking you solidly in the jaw! The box bounces away, leaving you damaged for -8 HP.
