Placed soundly between man and toad, Buforans are a race of noble, yet warlike creatures. Usually standing three to five feet tall and residing in kingdoms of mud structures, Buforans have mastered their unique abilities as intelligent toad-peoples. For example, they are known to carry insects deadly to other races into battle, within their gullets, for release during a skirmish and are especially practiced in using their lightning-fast, incredibly sticky tongues for disarming a foe. Going into battle against Buforans without first studying their tactics is very unwise. Equally unwise is referring to them by the much-hated slur, "Croak Folk", which until recent years was very common amongst otherwise civilized persons. If you do manage to gain the upper hand against one or more of these creatures, however, you will most likely see them burrow deep into the dirt or mud, where they may sequestor themselves for months on end. Certain rumors refer to a psychodelic cocktail Buforans create in order to experience heightened awareness (and in some cases meet and speak to the long-dead Buforan prophet, "Goldbelly") though any actual knowledge of whether this is fact or fiction remains with the creatures themselves.
