[edit] General chit chat

Hey, Jedz! Nice to see you!--The GeneralT POT Mod 02:38, 31 August 2006 (PDT)

Thanks, good to see you too. I'm starting to like this game more and more, it's much better once you start to know how to get coins and stuff. I noticed that this wiki's set up in a similar way to the Urban dead wiki, thats makes things alot easier. Hmm.... and I see that it also has a suggestion system with the same inherient flaws as the one on the UD wiki as well. Mostly to do with people doing the workload, but those will become obvious when there are over 5 suggestions a day or so. I think I might get a bit proactive and see if I can help to get rid of these flaws so it isn't an issue later. - Jedaz 07:21, 31 August 2006 (PDT)
Feel free to alter the suggestion system. On the off chance anything new doesn't work out, there's always changing it to something else. I'm pondering working on the Spam vote to make it less of a drama bumb. Maybe restricting it to "Vote spam if the suggestion cannot be implimented because it would ruin gameplay, makes no sense, or is overtly misinformed." Maybe. We'll see. -- Mo M 10:11, 31 August 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, that sounds fair enough. It makes sense to me to have it that way. - Jedaz 15:23, 31 August 2006 (PDT)
I kind of copied a lot of the Urbandead wiki onto here. It was a lot easier, but I couldn't think of what to do with the suggestions page.--The GeneralT POT Mod 11:09, 31 August 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, fair enough. Well theres no one better then me to suggest alterations the suggestions system now is there? ;) (it's just about the only thing that I did on the UD wiki) - Jedaz 15:23, 31 August 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, I would have liked to have you on the mod team. But i'm not sure whether you'd want to do it, or whether it would damage your reputation on urbandead or not.--The GeneralT POT Mod 09:46, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
Well I don't care that much about being on the urbandead wiki these days. I get little to no recognition for moving the suggestions and with the turn out for my bureaucrat bid I don't know why I bother. I could just let the suggestions system there die slowly, they arn't even attempting to deal with the backlog which is just stupid. I think I'll be nice though, I'll set it up so it's achievable for a human to sort the suggestions. As you know I had to write a simple progam to sort them. Thats party the reason why I'm setting this system up right from the start because it's crap when you get more suggestions. Hmm... anyway back onto topic I wouldn't mind being on the mod team, but I don't really have any prefrence either way at the moment. Maybe I might see what people think down the track once I've done a few things. - Jedaz 23:48, 2 September 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, we'll see how it goes. Anyway, we're glad to have you here.--The GeneralT POT Mod 00:23, 3 September 2006 (PDT)

For some reason, the talk page of the suggestions page isn't working, any idea why?--The GeneralT POT Mod 02:18, 3 September 2006 (PDT)

I would think it's proably be because the name spaces arn't set up correctly for the suggestions. Thats what I think, other than that I don't know why the talk page wouldn't work. - Jedaz 03:01, 3 September 2006 (PDT)
Fixed, in a manner of speaking. I've moved it back out of the namespace, but it means that we lost anything written on the talk page.--The GeneralT POT Mod 04:03, 3 September 2006 (PDT)
Oh well, at least it's a fix of sorts, good job. - Jedaz 04:06, 3 September 2006 (PDT)

I do think you've done a fantastic job with this. It's much cleaner and easier to understand this way. I for one wouldn't have any problem with you being a Mod, I think you've truly proven your worth working on this, and you would truly be an asset to our Mod Squad. Plus it sounds like you've certainly put in your time with the UD wiki. Come over to where you'll be appreciated. ~_^ *ninja* --∴V ModHaVoC 10:51, 11 September 2006 (PDT)

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Yeah, I might put my name up to become a moderator in a few days time or so, but I'm not really in any hurry, it seems like a quite wiki for the time being and I don't see any major rush for me to become a moderator. - Jedaz 23:11, 11 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Shellfish

I've adjusted the price of shellfish ingame (I had forgotten that the prices were so high) but I added more types of shellfish, so it should even out a bit. More to find and more chances to find something. -- Mo mod 10:58, 11 September 2006 (PDT)

i cant help it: How shellfish of you. -- ĢΘζđ ЫǺđєFish Newest mod 14:44, 26 November 2006 (PST)

[edit] Curious

Was just wondering if you had seen this or if this is a really weird coincidence, in which case I'll be making a tin foil hat, now. Heh. -- Mo mod 22:06, 11 September 2006 (PDT)

Ha, nope not at all. I've already got my tin foil hat out ;) I actually stole the idea from the nexus war wiki, but now they've moved onto a forum for suggestions which presumably they just have polls and then lock the thread after however long. - Jedaz 22:49, 11 September 2006 (PDT)
Wow. Wonder if the Nexus Warriors saw it then. I think it'd be really cool if the concept went in a big circle like that and ended up here. Heh. Never know. Polls are good for keeping votes orderly, but not really that great for explainations unless the voter actually feels like gracing the creator with his/her opinion. Hmm. -- Mo mod 23:21, 11 September 2006 (PDT)
Ha, yeah that would be really cool. Well you never know, I have a feeling that the NW wiki was originally set up on the same design structure as the urban dead one, so maybe they took the idea because they saw that it was much better then the lump all votes into one block approach. Anyway I feel that polls are not as friendly as a wiki where you have to justify the votes. I guess it does get rid of the emotion from voting but it's not as fun. Well thats my opinon of it anyway. - Jedaz 23:33, 11 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Suggestions

I noticed you linked to the previous suggestions pages in the suggestions intro, does that mean that we are going to use that page? I was assuming that maintaining that would be too much work, so I didn't use it.--The GeneralT POT Mod 09:40, 15 September 2006 (PDT)

Sorry I took so long to respond, I was out this weekend. Anyway yeah I really think we have to use it. It's a pain in the bum to keep going but otherwise the suggestions page can get very messy. For the quantity of suggestions that go through this page at this point in time it's not worthwhile to actually use the page yet, but it will have to be used in the future when there are heaps of suggestions going through. - JedazAre you on POT? 06:28, 17 September 2006 (PDT)
What if suggestions were broken down alphabetically instead of by date? Then there's only 26 main pages. From there if things get too messy, we can have sub-pages (As in, aa-am, an-az)
Example:
The suggestion "Make Hats Pretty" goes on the "M" approved suggestion page. (if approved, of course!)
If the "M" page is too huge, it gets split into subsections and "Make Hats Pretty" goes on the "MA to MM" page. Creating sub-pages could be done only out of necessity, easily moving everything above and below a certain point to two new sub pages. Perhaps an arbitrary number could be set, as in once there are say 20 suggestions on the page, 21st would cause a page split.
If that makes any sense. -- Mo mod 10:29, 17 September 2006 (PDT)
Hmm... I kinda get what you mean, but theres two issues with that way. The first is that people may not see all of the suggestions, and thus not be able to vote on them all. The second is that it requires less thinking power just to sort by date compated to alphabetically. If it's sorted by date then I reckon that would allow people to see what suggestions they missed voting on easier. - JedazAre you on POT? 18:29, 17 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Here they go

They're working toward your doom. Here. Told ya. There's nothing those punks won't do to anyone for their own bragging rights. -- Mo mod 21:05, 17 September 2006 (PDT)

Nevermind, I saw you weighed in. -- Mo mod 21:21, 17 September 2006 (PDT)
Yeah I noticed, well I don't mind it much, but I just think their methods are a little harsh. A perma-ban for saying "I may or may not vandalize the wiki"? Thats just crap. Anyway if they do perma-ban me I'll come back as a different user and get them real good. I'll be right royaly pissed off if they try that on me, infact I may get some help from The Devil to help me get them good. I'll bet you anything that I'll be the first to go. - JedazAre you on POT? 00:49, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
*sighs* Jedaz, why do you bother, when you know how easily vandalism can be reverted? --Cyberbob 00:53, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Yes, I do. But I'll just use the rules to my advantage so the most I get is a warning once. Then this type of vandalism will stick on every page I've sown my seeds onto. And, if you revert my type of "vandalism" I'll just call you for vandalism. Infact I can demonstrate it, but I won't at the moment because I want to sow my seeds of death even more. - JedazAre you on POT? 01:00, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
In light of what you just said, and the fact that I just took a screenshot of it, I'm fairly confident of my avoiding any backlash whatsoever. --Cyberbob 01:05, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Does it look like I really care about it? It'ld take at least two weeks for this policy to pass, by then it'll be too late. Or maybe, I won't do anything at all and you'll just have lost a very valuable contributor. - JedazAre you on POT? 01:11, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Don't matter. You made the threat. Besides, it doesn't matter how long the policy takes. If you vandalise before it passes, you'll still be demoted and banned. If you don't, you won't be. Before the policy passes. When it does, say goodbye. Think of it as a two-week notice. --Cyberbob 01:12, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
No, if I do my "vandalism" before the policy then I won't be demoted or banned. I cannot be banned before the policy is in place. Rules are rules and you have to follow them. - JedazAre you on POT? 01:20, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Looking at what you've been saying, I'm sure an exception will be made. In fact, you can count on it. --Cyberbob 01:21, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
In fact, I, or whoever reverts it, definitely won't be punished. Vandalism is defined any edit made in bad-faith. Considering you're contemplating these edits as a means to "get back" at those who "wronged you" (by not giving you any attention, you selfish child), I'd think it's safe to say they'll be counted as vandalism. --Cyberbob 01:31, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Ha, yes I am selfish, and I know you are too from you reaction to Bob Hammero geting promoted, but thats besides the point. The thing is though, technicaly I've already vandalized, it's just that it isn't obvious yet. I'ld like you to think about that and try and do something about it. I'll laugh at your pitiful attempts. - JedazAre you on POT? 01:40, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Well, looks like your plan got crushed. Bye bye! --Cyberbob 21:28, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Bob, you and your ilk are a bigger threat to the wellbeing of the UD Wiki than any vandal who has ever existed in the history of the site. Your abbrasive, crude, and caustic behavior drives off more folks than any easily-reverted edit. -- Mo mod 10:26, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Amazing, when I start caring what you think I'll let you know, OK? --Cyberbob 21:28, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Mature as always! :) Do us a favor, Wiki-Gate initiator, and don't stick around too long, okay? You guys using off-site text to slam someone on the UD Wiki is as slimey as it gets, and folks there are already seeing more and more of the Moderator underbelly... so really you should enjoy the ride while it lasts. And one more thing - as a point of clarity I really must insist you refer to me by the correct username. -- Mo mod 21:38, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Don't worry, Motormazinghed, I won't be hanging around here much. --Cyberbob 21:46, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
Sounds alright with me, Bob Number Three. (Hey, I'm a poet!) -- Mo mod 21:53, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
When you leave, you can count on my partying for a long time. -- ĢΘζđ ЫǺđєFish Newest mod 09:25, 3 December 2006 (PST)

[edit] Curious

I was just wondering why you put that URL on your user page. --Cyberbob 01:52, 19 September 2006 (PDT)

The reason? Well I noticed that a certain page of mine was deleted on the Urban Dead Wiki which I wouldn't have minded if people asked me before they deleted it and explained why. But obviously they didn't bother to take the time or effort to do so before I left. So, what I have here is a URL to the history of the page where I got the evil text from. So in short it's kind of a way of keeping it alive if you know what I mean? I'm not going to bother kicking up a fuss on the Urban Dead Wiki about it, I could quite easily get Xoid into trouble, but I'm not going to because I'm done with it and it doesn't affect me any more (well I'ld like to think so but obviously it still kind of does). - JedazAre you on POT? 02:19, 19 September 2006 (PDT)
May I inquire what this "evil text" thing is? It sounds like it have to be quite interesting to be deleted from a userpage. (like can you give me a link or something?). The Devil 19:14, 19 September 2006 (PDT)
Well basically the "evil text" is just a long line of text which can crash any wiki page. But it's a bit more then that, I'll explain in the E-mail that I'll send you. I think I'll just go and re-create the page on the urban dead wiki, but of course without the text otherwise it'll get deleted again. I've got a version here in my Sandbox. Of course this text wouldn't work on the Urban Dead Wiki because it's actually very different. Anyway I'll explain this all in my E-mail that I'll send you. - JedazAre you on POT? 00:35, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Also Curious

What happened with banning Cyberbob? -- Mo mod 15:28, 19 September 2006 (PDT)

Nevermind, I see you just added the tags. -- Mo mod 15:29, 19 September 2006 (PDT)
The General banned him for being a nuisance more or less. I doubt he would have actually contributed anything positive anyway. - JedazAre you on POT? 17:28, 19 September 2006 (PDT)
I doubt there any issue. The Third Bob made it clear he wasn't going to stick around anyway. The exit's the third door on the right, I guess. <_< -- Mo mod 17:37, 19 September 2006 (PDT)
lol, apparently. At least I saved some face over there. - JedazAre you on POT? 17:42, 19 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Sucking Up

I was referring to your trying to look good in front of Amazing. --Cyberbob 06:51, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

Why would I do that? I don't see any point, in the end it's all a lie if you do suck up because it's not who you really are. As I said to Bob Hammero when he was asking why didn't I just say that I was being impersonated on this wiki, I simply responded with "Well why lie?". The answers simple, there is no reason to lie, it just makes life complicated. I live life how I want to, I don't want to be pretending that I'm something that I'm not. If people don't accept you for who you are then thats their issue as long as you try your best. - JedazAre you on POT? 07:03, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
Spare me the preaching, OK? I certainly don't need it from one such as you. --Cyberbob 07:07, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
Well I don't expect you to understand me. Nor do I expect to understand you either. I don't understand why but our paths always seem to end in conflict. Well thats life for you. - JedazAre you on POT? 07:10, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
Honestly, Cyberbob, I think Jedaz already looks good in front of Amazing/Mo. --«» Draaj (Talk)ModPoT 09:25, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Checkuser

Could you check if you have the "checkuser" ability, it whould be that only bureaucrats and those in the "Checkuser" group have it, but I don't know if it works because i'm a bureaucrat.--The GeneralT POT Mod 13:30, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

Yep, it's there and working fine. - JedazAre you on POT? 17:03, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Evil Sandbox

remember me to hate you a little bit this night. udwiki nearly went down because someone used the thing you described in your evil sandbox. the weirdest thing is that it was done the exact time i was writing my sinatures policy to combat this thing. --hagnat 21:08, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

thanks to yours truly. Who else? The Devil 21:09, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
I thought that might have been what Jedaz emailed you. --Cyberbob 21:30, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
Whats wierd is that I think I might have been the person who originally posted that random template string on the VB page (you know around the time when i was going template mad with links to amazing's user page and to the suggestions page). The Devil 21:36, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
Actually Cyberbob, I was E-mailing him a tool that allows you to change proxies quickly. I wanted him to test it out and see if I programed it correctly. I did explain to him about the text because he asked me about it here and it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together considering the policy I have writen up here about this kind of thing. After all, it is a fairly obvious exploit when you have that kind of information. - JedazAre you on POT? 21:45, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Can you put this on your UD userpage?

Hey can you put this:

From the 3pwv: It has been fun while it has lasted but I don't have time for this anymore so I am announcing that I am leaving the UD wiki and probably the scroll wars wiki forever, or at least for a long, long time. Couple things to say though before I leave, 1 get that signature policy past or something else that would be effective or this wiki is doomed if someone else comes along, 2nd watch out for annoumous proxy users and third if you ever come accross a perstant vandal that uses AOL then you should fear them (I only used open proxies). Thats all so I guess I will see you guys either on SW or a long time from now. Your long time V, 3pwv.

on your userpage/usernamespace/comment on VB page/somewhereelse because whenever I try to put it on one of mine there Brithz deletes it (even though its on my user page) I would really apprieciate it. The Devil 19:02, 22 September 2006 (PDT)

Well I've put it on my user page, I'll see where else I can put it. - JedazAre you on POT? 21:10, 22 September 2006 (PDT)
Maybe Brizth deletes it because you were putting it instead of actual pages.--Thari 12:07, 23 September 2006 (PDT)
Well of course he deleted it off the VB page but he deleted off my USER PAGES. Which is against the rules IN ANY CIRCUNSTANCE. The Devil 12:21, 23 September 2006 (PDT)
So, you think vandal-only accounts have some rights. Those user have only one right, the right to be permabanned into oblivion. Talking trough Jedaz was a good idea.--Thari 14:58, 23 September 2006 (PDT)
Technically yes, vandal only accounts have the same rights as any other user under the current rules, they need to fix that. Yeah I realized going through mm would not accomplish anything so i decided to go through someone else. On a side note I'v been checking the VB page and it seems like someone is taking my place, hes not very good though. The Devil 15:10, 23 September 2006 (PDT)
Actually I'v changed my opinion on this new guy, he seemed to have somehow got darth sensitive to delete the VB page. It made my day. The Devil 20:48, 23 September 2006 (PDT)
Darth made it alone. I think he is crying or something.--Thari 21:13, 23 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Vote of Confidence

Yeah, i'd love a hand with it.--The GeneralT POT Mod 13:32, 24 September 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Hi again

Could you help us with the impersonators that use HTML on their names, pleaaaaaaase?--Thari 22:53, 2 October 2006 (PDT)

Well how would you like me to help exactly? It's not HTML codes in their names, but unicode characters. I could explain it all to you and how it's done, but apart from creating an account for all of the posibilitys theres nothing that can really be done, well apart from changing the wiki code (which I might look into and test when I'm not so busy). For people with long names it's just ridiculous at how many combinations there are. It's somewhere in the order of 2^the length of the persons name. Someone like Cyberbob240 (11 letters) has about 2,048 different posible variations in their name. So as you can see creating 2,048 accounts to protect one person isn't very feasible. The thing that you really have to look out for thought is if one of the vandals becomes a moderator. If they know what they are doing they can stop the edit pages, the recent changes and other special pages from working. It's lucky I'm not into being destructive because I have a good source of knowledge behind me to do some real dammage. But most of the mods on the UD wiki would have you belive otherwise. Since I'm the helpful type I'll see what I can do, but short of changing the wiki code to make it so you can't create an account with those characters I can't see anything that can be done. If I did make said code I doubt that they would trust me enough over there to give it a shot anyway. - JedazAre you on POT? 23:50, 2 October 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Cheers

Thanks for the welcome Jedaz, I was thinking there are alot of familiar names about! Just getting my bearings at the moment so I'll be sure to shout if I need any help. Cheers again. Pillsy 07:30, 3 October 2006 (PDT)

[edit] If you're on right now...

Is the Urban Dead wiki not loading/loading slow for you? -- Mo mod 00:18, 5 October 2006 (PDT)

It seems alright at the moment, but it does suffer from slow downs ever so often I've noticed. Every so often I get an error from it saying something about how the max connections to the server has been reached. Maybe it's someone doing a DOS attack? Who knows. - JedazAre you on POT? 00:21, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
Ah. I just did something in looking at some archived pages that I thought might've caused the site to slow down. After that post I went back and it was fine. (was slow/not loading for a few min. must've just been me.) Weird. -- Mo mod 00:22, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, well the only thing that probably could noticeably slow it down for everyone is make it call alot of templates =P Hey, I was wondering can I try mucking around with the recent changes wiki-media thing just for abit? I want to see how those special wiki-media pages work exactly and what they can do. Don't worry I won't do anything like place alot of templates on the page and I should have found out what I want to know in a few minutes. Once I'm done I'll put it back to how it was. I thought I would ask since it is a bit of a major thing to be mucking around with. - JedazAre you on POT? 00:28, 5 October 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Just a question

You know, I actually am happy that I got banned. It was causing me frustration, but I just needed a reason to stop going there. What do you think about it? -- ĢΘζđ ЫǺđєFish Newest mod 22:59, 7 October 2006 (PDT)

Well when I left I was good, I felt releived. But now that I'm considered a "frequent vandal" I have a score to settle and I won't rest until I do. I'm going to get Xoid demoted somehow... I'll do it in one way or another, just wait and see. - JedazAre you on POT? 23:21, 7 October 2006 (PDT)
I decided to let that blace burn of it's own accord. It won't take long now. I said that there were major cracks in the foundation, that's why I had that lengthy discussion, and why I kept saying that many mods were messed up. Because I'm psychic. (really, I've known about inconsiquential stuff years in advance). -- ĢΘζđ ЫǺđєFish Newest mod 23:30, 7 October 2006 (PDT)
Oh, and if you are on revenge, Xoid is now e-stalking -- ĢΘζđ ЫǺđєFish Newest mod 23:35, 7 October 2006 (PDT)
Ha, yeah I was kind of psychic once as well. But that was with TV, I use to get deja vu with alot of the shows, lol. Kinda funny but true none the less. Well the UD wiki is at the end of it's rope, but I'm not going to be the one to cut it off. We'll see what happens, I'm glad that I still have supporters on it though. Anyone find it strange that the development of this has halted since I resigned as moderator? I don't think it was a coincidence. Anyway I don't think that the stalking really counts as anything, but added up you can show Xoid's trolling like nature, which may be enough to get a community vote to force him to step down if done right. - JedazAre you on POT? 23:42, 7 October 2006 (PDT)

I need to send you a valuable email.

Yes, just stop edit conflicting me! lol. It's da_jedas@hotmail.com - JedazAre you on POT? 23:42, 7 October 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Parser Functions

It appears that hover text doesn't work with parserfunctions, is there a reason for this?--The GeneralT POT Mod 06:47, 23 October 2006 (PDT)

It should. I had a play around with it and you probaly have to put the hover text inside the link for it to work. So instead of having
<span title="Moderator and Bureaucrat">[[Moderation|Mod]]</span>
Use this
[[Moderation|<span title="Moderator and Bureaucrat">Mod</span>]]
So you go and get Mod instead of Mod. It's the same deal with links normaly, you probably didn't notice it before now. - JedazAre you on POT? 14:33, 23 October 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Signature Help

I was wondering if you'd help me with my signature, I've just got on the pot and i'd like it to reflect in my sig as well as have it say different things like Mo and your sigs do. XolahW.o.O.T.P.o.T 01:41, 5 December 2006 (PST)

Ah, well it involves parser functions. I'll give you the gist of it and how to work it so you can do it yourself. I suggest that when you create a new page for the links of your signature, eg. User:Xolah/sig/Links, and calling it from your signature just to make organizing it easier. If you have a look at my signatures code you can see what I mean. Anyway to make it change based on the pages you need start a switch function.
{{#switch:
Thats simple enough, however you need to specify a variable to check. There are really only two that you would want to use, the first is {{PAGENAME}}, and the second is {{NAMESPACE}}. So now the switch function should look something like this.
{{#switch: {{NAMESPACE}}
We've now set up the switch function we can compare the variables. We do this by placing | variable value=What you want to appear for each variable. At this point it is important to note that the variables are case sensitive so "Suggestions" is not the same as "suggestions". Anyway by this point in time your code for your signature should look something like this.
{{#switch: {{NAMESPACE}}
| Moderation=Signature for moderation page
| Moderation Talk=Signature for moderation talk page
| Group=Signature for group pages
| Group Talk=Signature for group talk pages
| Suggestions=Signature for suggestion pages
| Suggestions Talk=Signature for suggestion talk pages
| User=Signature for user pages
| User talk=Signature for user talk pages
| #default= A default clause, this can also be another switch
statement with a different variable.
}}
I hope that made sense, if not just ask for the points you need clarification on and I'll do my best to answer them. - JedazAre you on POT? 03:32, 5 December 2006 (PST)
Ok that kinda made sense..a little. Next question where do I store the different signatures such as the Signature for moderation page, Signature for moderation talk page, Signature for group pages...etc..ok so I lied, i'm completely clueless on this and aside from being a copy and paste whore I know nothing. XolahW.o.O.T.P.o.T 13:57, 5 December 2006 (PST)
He he, ok then. Well we'll make this easy then. I'll make it all for you, just tell me what you want your signature to be on what kind of pages, Eg moderation pages, and I'll make it from that. Heres the list of the current name spaces that the scroll wars wiki has. Just add what you want your signature to be after the name. If you want it to be different on any specific pages then add them to the list and I'll fix it all up for you. - JedazAre you on POT? 14:28, 5 December 2006 (PST)

I might add in an reference to you sometime, but I'm going to have to wait until the sysops repeat a similar mistake/behaviour (if they do at all) before I'll add something about you. - JedazAre you on POT? 18:18, 29 January 2007 (PST)

[edit] My project

It's coming along, though slowly. I've got some sort of admin permissions system, though there are no actual controls yet. I've nearly done the user profile and i've also planned the mapping system, so it should be implemented soon. My real problem at the moment is the front-end design. I'm a web developer, not a designer. Hence, the backend php is perfectly fine, but i'm finding it difficult to make the pages that actually format the content :P. Any chance you fancy helping a bit?--The GeneralT POT Mod 10:03, 27 May 2007 (PDT)

Heh, sure, if you want. We'll have to decide on what data you want to display for the various screens, and what the general layout will be like. That way I can make a file with a simple PHP method to display the interface for you. But first if you tell me what data you want displayed on each screen I'll send you a few pictures giving an idea of the layout and what it'll look like, then once we are agreed on a certain layout I'll start designing a PHP file for easy use. By the way, what kind of theam are you after? (eg, jungle, post-modern, desert, ect..) - JedazAre you on POT?15:59, 27 May 2007 (PDT)
It'll be pretty similar to the data displayed in scrollwars, or most other mmorpgs. So health, XP, location etc. for the main game page; most other stuff would probably just change the content, to display profile and group pages, but keep the same layout. I'm currently thinking of some sort of black post-modern theme, as it's an undead game.--The GeneralT POT Mod 16:40, 27 May 2007 (PDT)
Excelent, well I've got a nice design going for it, I've created a mock game page for you to have a look at to see how it'll turn out. It's mainly just to make sure that I'm on the right track. Expect an e-mail in a few minutes. If you want anything changed let me know and I'll see what I can do. - JedazAre you on POT?
You're on the right track. The one thing that would be nice to change is perhaps fill in the background of the boxes containing content with some sort of colour, as it looks a bit bare with just a black background. I'm thinking perhaps some sort of green/dark grey to fit in with the background. You've got the general idea of what I was looking for, and I like the green eye in the centre.--The GeneralT POT Mod 23:57, 27 May 2007 (PDT)
Alright, I've sent you an e-mail, I hope thats what you were looking for. I can change it if you want though. Don't forget to update the CSS file so the generic page works. - JedazAre you on POT? 00:47, 29 May 2007 (PDT)
The generic page file doesn't seem to have reached me, or are you referring to the one you already sent?--The GeneralT POT Mod 00:52, 29 May 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Armor Values

Hey Jedaz. Xolah gave armor values for certain types of equipment: Skull Chestplate .5, Jewelled Gauntlets .3, Friendship Ring .1, and Blindfold .05; [(*)] page is here. I've been using these values to try and figure out the armor values of other equipment. However hit a hurdle: when i have an armor value of .5, i get no resistance; when i have an armor value of .6 i get no resistance; when i have an armor value of .85, i get 1 resistance. My question is: are the values Xolah gave correct, and if they are, does hte system that calculates resistance have an odd definition of how to round to the nearest integer (or was it done that way on purpose)? Dean.b.fred 02:41, 29 January 2008 (MST)

Hey, yeah, those numbers are correct, however every item you equip counts towards the armour value. So if you have anything else equiped then it would be adding to the resistance (thus throwing out the numbers). However the system rounds down to the nearest whole number, so you shouldn't get any resistance for 0.85. Let me know if this is an issue, however I plan on changing the armour system soon. It was done lazily and so, as I've said before, it uses a formula rather then set values for each item. As of such armour values for some items don't make much sense (such as rings giving more defense then say gauntlets). - JedazAre you on POT? 06:26, 29 January 2008 (MST)
I had put everything else i owned into the vault, and removed everything, so that could make sure that the values i was going to base everything on were correct. It appears they were - i had been trying to find a NPC that did only a set amount of damage, and unfortunately, the damage recorded for Executioner's was wrong - which made my results wrong. So, i ended up not getting any resistance when the values added to .8 =) Thanks for your time anyway, and let me know when you change the system so i can try again lol =P Dean.b.fred 15:41, 29 January 2008 (MST)
